What homeowners need from a home repair company website
Most home repair customers arrive with a list rather than a project. A door that sticks, a window that lets the wind in, a bedroom that needs paint, a utility room that could be better. They look for a local company that takes small jobs, gives a written price and turns up when it says it will.
In Finland the price question has a second layer. The household tax credit, kotitalousvähennys, refunds part of the labour cost on repair and maintenance work in a home or holiday home. Homeowners compare quotes on the price after the credit, and they need labour shown separately on the invoice to claim it.
So the website has to say which jobs you take and which you pass to other trades, show starting prices, explain the credit with real numbers, and collect a job description good enough to quote from. Many customers are older homeowners, so text size, contrast and a phone number within reach matter as much as the design.
How the demo handles it
Saranapaja is a fictional business that VirtueInfo created for this demo. It is not a client, and its prices, projects and reviews are sample content. The demo is in Finnish and English, with Finnish pages at the root and the English version under /en.
The signature feature is the household tax credit calculator. A visitor enters the labour cost from an invoice, chooses one to four people claiming and can add materials. The calculator shows the estimated credit, the split per person, the labour after the credit and the total. When the job is small enough that a single claimant gets more, it says so. A table of example amounts sits below, along with the conditions that apply, such as the contractor being on the prepayment register. Every result is labelled as an estimate, not a binding quote.
A shorter version of the calculator sits on the home page beside a receipt-style sample invoice for eight restored windows. The services page covers small repairs, window restoration, painting and renovations, each with typical jobs, sample prices and a note on what the company does not do, such as electrical and plumbing work.
The projects page shows four illustrated examples, from a full window restoration to a six-hour visit that clears a repair list. Each one gives the duration, labour, materials, credit estimate and price after the credit. The quote request form asks for job type, a description, district, type of home, timing and optional photos. On phones a bar at the bottom keeps the call and quote buttons in reach.
Local SEO built in
Each page carries schema.org data using the HomeAndConstructionBusiness type, with Pori, Ulvila and Nakkila listed as areas served and weekday opening hours. The services page adds Service and Offer data, and the home and calculator pages carry FAQ data.
Page titles match local searches, such as "remontit Pori" and "ikkunaremontti Pori" in Finnish, and "home repairs Pori" in English. The calculator page also targets people searching for a household tax credit calculator, which brings in visitors who are already planning work. District names such as Noormarkku and Itätulli appear in the text, in line with your Google Business Profile.
All illustrations are inline SVG and the fonts are self-hosted, so pages load quickly on a phone. We keep the Saranapaja demo out of search because the business does not exist. Your own site launches fully indexable.
Notes for each market we serve
Finland
The demo is built for the Finnish market. We write Finnish first with English, and add Swedish for bilingual areas. Prices go in euros including VAT, the business ID belongs in the footer, and the calculator is updated when the credit rules change for a new tax year. Wooden window restoration and seasonal outdoor painting are worth their own pages, since customers book them in spring.
India
Handyman and repair services are booked mostly by phone and WhatsApp. We would drop the tax credit calculator, show rupee prices and add UPI and WhatsApp.
USA
We switch to American spelling, dollar prices and a ZIP code service area, and show your contractor licence number where your state requires one.
Canada
We use Canadian spelling and dollars, show any provincial licence or registration, and build a French version for Québec.
Australia
We use Australian spelling and prices with GST, and show your ABN and any trade licence numbers.
What we deliver and how the project runs
We design the site to your brand rather than the Saranapaja look, and write the service pages and job boundaries with you, including which trades you bring in.
Quote requests go to your email, WhatsApp or your CRM, with photos attached and the customer's preferred contact method. We keep the calculator current each tax year.
At hand-over you get the code, hosting and a guide to updating prices and example projects. We maintain the site and can promote it in the spring and autumn booking seasons through our digital marketing services.
Send us your list of services and the towns you cover, and ask us for a quote.
